Today, having an accessible website really matters. It allows users who rely on additional support, such as screen readers, to interact with the site without encountering barriers that stops them from using it to its full potential. This alone is a great reason why accessibility should be taken seriously.
Today, having an accessible website really matters. It allows users who rely on additional support, such as screen readers, to interact with the site without encountering barriers that stops them from using it to its full potential. This alone is a great reason why accessibility should be taken seriously. However, the benefits of integrating accessibility into a website don’t stop there. Adhering to accessibility guidance improves SEO and can cut down on legal risks too.
We worked with global restaurant chain STK Steakhouse to deliver a modern, accessible website that meets WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Our extensive accessibility work on the STK website drove up their overall website accessibility score.
We amended alt alt text errors and replaced it with accurate descriptions, ensuring that information is accurately conveyed to users relying on screen readers.
We also eliminated instances of vague or unclear link text, replacing them with descriptive alternatives to reduce confusion for users.
The accessibility focused work we conducted on STK’s website, such as adding clear alt and link text across all pages ensured that users with accessibility needs are fully supported. This meant that STK could reach a wider customer base whilst also providing them with an excellent user experience.
Implementing accessibility improvements across Benihana’s website also reduced its risk to potential legal challenges under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This is a threat to many websites, but by aligning the site with recognised standards such as WCAG 2.1, Benihana is now better protected against compliance risks.
