Studio Snapshot

Not all of our team lives in Bristol, and we’ve all adapted to our new hybrid working arrangement really well. However, it’s been really good to get the whole team together once a month and have a mini social – for our latest one, we all went for brunch by the harbourside.

It was very nice, although Thomas did order a sausage with his pancakes. Strange.

What's new in the
Design team?

Thomas created the design for the new Clik site

Clik are a software company based right next door to us in the Tobacco Factory. They provide project management software for all facets of the construction industry.

We worked with the team at Clik to design a site that could condense all their previous web channels in to one consistent experience, all on the same site. One of the challenges with the design was to integrate all their products’ branding into the site while sitting within the main Clik brand.

As a design team we’re looking forward to seeing how we can work alongside the digital team to support Clik moving forward with this site, adapting and evolving with the changing needs of the company and the industry.

team have been up to

Oscar and Phil were in charge of the Clik development

The build for Clik involved creating a robust system of taxonomies to display the different products and product categories, as well as migrating a large number of support articles from the pre-existing external support site.

To significantly improve the user experience, we set up several integrations with service providers such as Hubspot for managing contacts, ZenDesk for offering direct customer support, as well as PayPal and Stripe for processing payments. As a high traffic volume site, it was vital that visitors were able to access all the support that was available on the previous site, but in a much more streamlined and centralised location.

We also used React to build a bespoke price calculator that creates tailored software license quotes for customers. Clik’s pricing structure involves many variables, so React felt like a natural choice as it is a front end framework which helps manage elements with complex relationships and allows you to update values on the fly. The calculator had the extra benefit of lead generation, as it captured user details to allow Clik to remarket to that audience.

The latest from the
Digital Marketing team

Meet our new Digital Marketing Lead, Alex!

How have you found life at Fanatic so far?

It’s been great – the people are really friendly and everyone is really passionate about the work we do, we’ve got a great suite of clients and there is a great family-like atmosphere in the office.

What were you doing before Fanatic and what made you get into Digital Marketing?

I’ve worked for a London-based Digital Media Agency as an Account Director, and also for various digital agencies since I graduated from Uni – which is where I first came across Digital Marketing. My degree in Music Technology was completely unrelated to marketing – however we did a module in Business & Promotion where we had to create our own website for artist promotion (in Flash, that’s how long ago it was). That’s when I’ve decided I really wanted to work with websites moving forward (but not as a developer because I have no patience for errors).

What made you choose Fanatic?

Great culture and a passion for the work we do, which really came across in my interview with Ian and Milly and the team.

What have you enjoyed most so far?

Being back in the office (!) and the ability to work in collaboration with design and development teams on impactful projects.

What are you looking forward to learning more about?

Options. ?

What’s an interesting fact about you?

I used to be a vegetarian (10 years) and vegan (+2 years on top of veg) but I don’t think anyone would ever be able to tell given my love for sushi and steak!

We've been listening to

What’s inspired us this month?

LBW Trip

Some of our team recently went to visit one of our newest clients, Lyme Bay Winery, to see firsthand how their business operates (and of course, to try some of their products ?). They were amazed to see the scale and intricacies of how their winery works, and learned so much about all the different processes involved.

The LBW team promised that they’d come to Bristol soon so that everyone at Fanatic can sample their wines and their excellent mead – we’re holding them to that!
