August has been a month of curiosity and experimentation as the team have been diving deeper into AI and its role in our work. From exploring new tools to testing emerging technologies, everyone has been finding ways to boost their creativity and workflows, and sharing their insights through blogs, standups and hands-on projects.
The results were pretty eye-opening – by the fourth generation, his hands had merged into one, his expression looked completely lifeless, and the whole image had started to fall into the uncanny valley. Even when he used much more detailed prompting techniques, the degradation was still inevitable. What makes this particularly relevant for designers is that platforms like Pinterest and Google Images are increasingly filled with AI-generated content, which means we need to be extra careful about what we’re using for inspiration. It’s a brilliant deep-dive into why keeping human creativity at the heart of our process is more important than ever – definitely worth a read if you’re interested in the practical implications of AI in creative work!
The Dev team have been diving into some pretty cutting-edge technology lately – MCP servers, which essentially let AI systems access your own data sources directly, whether that’s databases, file storage, or other content. To put it simply, instead of having to write custom code every time you want to ask a specific question about your data, you can just ask an AI and it’ll dig through everything for you. They’ve been testing this with WooCommerce examples where you could ask how many orders of a particular product have been delivered to a specific area – normally that would require a developer to write custom reporting, but with MCP it’s just a conversation with AI.
