New Fanatic Social Committee Formed

Following our last Vision Day, Fanatic’s first Social Committee was formed in October. As cliché as it sounds, “we work hard, we play hard,” and we value making time for activities that are fun, enjoyable and help strengthen our team bonds. With our company growing, it felt natural to create a committee that reflects the diverse interests of everyone on the team. There are some exciting socials planned on the calendar, including a pub quiz, board games evening, afternoon walk, Secret Santa, and many more. Here are the members of the new Fanatic Social Committee.

Workshopping With the City of Bristol College Students

Last month, we continued our collaboration with City of Bristol College to set a new design brief for their Graphic Design students, aged 17-19. This month, Sam W and Ian returned to work with the students on their ideas and concepts. They spent an afternoon listening to the students present their concepts and suggesting improvements they could take forward. Our aim is to give the students real-world feedback, similar to what they might receive from clients or senior creatives.

Later in the year, the students will visit the Tobacco Factory to present their final concepts to members of the Fanatic team.

Putting STK Live: Design POV

Over the past few months, we’ve been working on the design of the STK website. The goal was to capture the vibe dining experience at STK. The design team collaborated closely with our development team to ensure the user experience was seamless and that all integrations would work smoothly for users. There are numerous unique and engaging interactions across the site that required designing, testing, and refining ahead of the launch. Exploring and solving these challenges is what we love doing in the design team!

Putting STK Live: Dev POV

Meanwhile, the Development team has been focused on bringing this design to life with a robust and responsive infrastructure for the global STK Steakhouse website. Our brief was to ensure that the impactful design was implemented robustly, with careful UX considerations and a strong focus on accessibility.

A key consideration was the high volumes of traffic the website receives daily, so we crafted an infrastructure capable of keeping up with demand. And with Fanatic’s Digital team working to improve SEO and digital exposure, the infrastructure is also able to scale with rising traffic.

Since the website has a global audience, our UX designers collaborated with the Digital team to create an effective experience for international users. The Development team implemented solutions to tailor the website’s content to each user’s region, providing location-specific restaurant details, menus, and booking experiences.

Amy Completed Her First Triathlon

At the start of October, Amy competed in her first-ever triathlon. It was a super sprint triathlon, which consisted of a 200m swim, an 18k bike ride, and a 2.5k run. She only signed up in August, so she had to do quite a bit of training to prepare. Amy even got a swimming coach, as the last time she had done lane swimming was when she was around 8 years old! She finished in 10th place in the female category and 3rd in her age group, which was a huge accomplishment.
